The Law of Rhythm: Spiritual cycles of life

According to the Law of Rhythm, everything on Earth follows a cycle. When things move in one direction, they must come back and repeat the same cycle. In the Wintertime there aren’t any leaves on the tree. The trees begin to bud in the spring. During the Summertime, the trees are in full blossom. In Autumn the leaves on the tree begin to die and fall. Then the cycle begins all over again. This is true for many areas of our lives and in the collective consciousness.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

What is the law of rhythm?

No one knows for sure where these laws originated from or who specifically ordained them. Different people believe different things about the order instituted in the world. One thing is for certain, the law of rhythm can be seen throughout our world. The law of rhythm states that everything moves in cycles. We can tangibly see this in the change of the seasons. Nothing on Earth ever truly stays the same. The law of rhythm lets us know that there is a time for everything.

I know many of you are interested in manifesting. I've created a free manifestation journal for those of you who have a Christian paradigm. In this journal, you can explore how manifesting is 100% biblical. You can grab that free journal here! Enjoy :)

The different rhythms of life

The law of rhythm helps us to understand that there are phases in life. Some changes are destined to take place at some point in time. These changes don’t have to be negative so please, don’t go around expecting something horrible to happen the moment something amazing happens. I’m suggesting that you utilize the law of rhythm to see the different phases of your life.

Here’s a story for those of you who think in pictures:

There’s a time when a person is single, enjoying their life and their career. They can do anything they want, and go anywhere they want. Then one day they meet someone who lights up their life. The next thing they know they’re in a committed relationship. They went from being single to being in love. Now they’re texting all day and video chatting all night. Then their love proposes to them and now they’re engaged! They’re showing off their ring to everyone. They planning a wedding. They’re planning their honeymoon. Then comes the big day! All of their friends and family wish them the best of luck in their marriage.

The story continues…

That person may think to themselves, ‘Wow! I’m married! This all happened so fast!’ When in reality it’s been almost two years since they were single. Now they’re adjusting to married life. They’re getting used to living with their spouse. They’re learning how to communicate effectively with their spouse. They experience excitement, they experience passion. Then the next thing they know, they’re pregnant! In the first trimester, they’re ever so careful, keeping the information to themselves. They create a safe space, they’re eating healthy, and they’re keeping their mindset positive. Then they move into their second trimester. They tell a few close friends and family. The baby is growing. It seems like it was just yesterday but they’re now in the third trimester. Today they’re welcoming their baby! Whew!

They watch the baby take their first steps and say their first words. Now the baby is in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school, and then college. Before you know it that baby will be meeting their special someone to fall in love with, marry, and be having a baby of their own. The cycle continues.

How to use the law of rhythm

Hopefully, that long-drawn-out story painted a picture in your mind that everything is constantly changing, yet staying the same at the same time. Remember that you’re living a human experience. Others have experienced a human life before you, and others will experience one after you. Take into consideration that you aren’t alone in having ups and downs, highs and lows, and being in one place today and a completely different place tomorrow.

If you’re experiencing a good phase in your life. Enjoy! Ride the wave to the fullest. To continue painting a picture in your mind about cycles, while you’re having the time of your life, someone somewhere just got wiped out. Someone is lying out on the beach soaking in the sun. While someone is washing the sand off of their body, someone else is on their way back home.

Keep this in mind,

If you’re experiencing an unpleasant phase in your life, just know that this too shall pass! You can withstand any trial that comes your way. You will not go through anything too hard for you to bear. Just know that an unpleasant situation is temporary and eventually, you’ll be in a new phase and a new season in your life. Think back on previous situations you’ve been in that were unpleasant, they all came to an end, right? You may have even seen some good come out of an unpleasant situation. Look back on your joyous phases in life, they too eventually came to an end right?

The laws work in harmony with each other

I want to point out that the universal laws work in harmony with one another and are similar to each other. The law of rhythm dictates that there is a time and a season for everything. You may hear ‘a time for reaping and a time for sowing’ and be reminded of the law of polarity. The law of polarity states that things exist in a dual nature. While the law of rhythm and the law of polarity are similar they aren’t the same. The law of rhythm can move into many different cycles.

The law of polarity expresses opposite sides of a coin. For example, the rhythm of seasons moves through cycles of fall, winter, spring, and summer. The rhythm of life is birth, adolescence, youth, adulthood, senior citizen, and death. Do you see what I’m saying? The polar opposite of winter is summer, and the polar opposite of birth is death. Even the example of reaping and sowing can be elaborated on from the law of rhythm perspective. There is a time for planting, a time for cultivating, and a time for harvesting.

Also, you can be in multiple phases at the same time. For example, you can be in a season of singleness, experiencing a growth phase in your career, while being in summer, waiting for the new season of your favorite show to come back to Netflix.

Ask yourself these questions
  • What phase am I in currently?
  • What thoughts and feelings am I experiencing during this phase?
  • What actions am I taking during this phase?
  • What is the next phase for me?

Summary

The law of rhythm is here to help us understand that life will take us through different cycles. Unlike the law of relativity, these cycles are not tests. The pendulum may swing one way, but it is bound to swing back the other way. Your goal is to recognize what season of life you’re in and prepare for future seasons. When you’re in a season of exponential wealth, don’t spend it all. Be sure to save some of that extra increase for seasons where the flow of income is a little slower.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post. May you now have a better understanding of the law of rhythm and how to leverage it in your life. Remember all things are possible, they are! The best is yet to come and the odds are always in your favor! Take care!
